Preparing Your Lawn for Spring

With winter in full swing, and the signs of warmth and sunlight being scarce, we are here to help you out with what to do to prepare your lawn for the spring. We know it’s a few months away, but, better late than never!

Make sure your equipment is working properly

Before you start any work on your lawn, it is important to make sure that all of your equipment is working properly. Replacing parts of your lawn mower, changing the oil, installing new air filters, etc. This will make sure that you’re prepared for the warmer months when you’re going to be in your lawn more and more. Making sure you don’t have any mishaps when you need your equipment the most is very important.

Make sure to clean up.

Making sure to clean up your lawn is a good tip for making that lawn nice and prepared for when the weather starts to get a bit warmer. This will prevent any mishaps with your lawn equipment, and by making sure debris or twigs, etc. don’t get caught is the best way.

Apply pre-emergent

Using a good pre-emergent to kill weeds, and help for them to not begin invading your lawn is a great step. This will be something that will aide in your fertilizing, and will help to protect your grass.

Apply fertilizer

Fertilizer has a great use for keeping that grass healthy. For a good tip, mixing fertilizer with pre-emergent will be a match made in heaven for your lawn in the spring. Since pre-emergent is used to primarily prevent any forms of crab grass, and fertilizer being the nutrients for your grass, these two work excellent together.

Last Minute Clean up and Mulching

One last tip we have is to begin to trim those shrubs, edge out the flower beds, and replace the mulch. You can trim any trees that need it as well! Make sure to take pride in your lawn this spring.
